The Director will oversee, coach and inspire the creative minds that make up the multimedia production team. Responsible for leading creative multimedia storytelling ideation, planning, and development, the Director will oversee content and asset production of copy and video and photography for multiple channels including print collateral, institutional social media, the university website and other digital platforms and vehicles. The Lehigh community takes seriously our commitment to antiracism and The Principles of our Equitable Community.

This position is a Grade: 11-40 with an approximate salary range of $81,450-$99,080 and is subject to change based on experience, skills and qualifications

1. Storytelling and Asset Development - Direct and oversee the digital multimedia storytelling strategy for both internal and external audiences and lead the strategy for developing subsequent assets and copy.

• Leads team responsible for multimedia storytelling asset and copy production across Lehigh’s print and digital channels, including admissions materials, print magazines, email, social media and web channels and other institutionally important materials.
• Support individual growth and development of team members, manage and deliver feedback and build a culture of trust and transparency.
• Provides direction, coaching and accountability for multimedia production staff as it relates to telling the university story with the right multimedia support. Act as a thoughtful decision maker, giving direction to the team about asset development as it relates to themes and the relationship between creative multimedia and brand story.
• In collaboration with the brand and content teams, identify the storytelling opportunities that would be most appropriate for multimedia execution. Provide direction and support for active marketing campaigns, identify appropriate audience and channels and metrics for success.
• Create the asset development process from conception through distribution and oversee delivery timelines.
• Oversee, provide feedback and direction to multimedia producers
• Originate creative and copy assets, provide direct edits to content submitted by producers, including external partner agencies or freelance producers
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including brand specialists, writers and editors, and designers to create cohesive and impactful multimedia campaigns.

2. Social Media and Website Management - Manage Lehigh’s institutional social media platforms and website, driving engagement, brand alignment and key university messaging.

• In collaboration with the Executive Director of Content Creation, oversee and craft compelling copy and associated visuals to support social media
• Publish content, monitor engagement and manage the community across Lehigh’s institutional social media platforms
• Explore new digital platforms, including social, that help to target, engage and deliver messaging to Lehigh’s key audiences
• Strategize, oversee and craft compelling copy and visuals that tell the Lehigh story on our university website
• Ensure Lehigh website content is current and continually updated (brand messaging, academic programs, research, student life, institutional facts/figures, rankings)
• Measure the effectiveness of content and assets using social management platform metrics, web analytics and other digital assessment tools. Continuously monitor content performance and make adjustments as needed for improvement.

The duties of this position may allow the employee to work partially remote as deemed appropriate by their supervisor

May be required to be available on occasional nights/weekends as situations arise. Up to 10%-15% travel

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Marketing and Communication or related field

• Eight or more years related work experience

• Deep experience with developing and sharing stories across multiple channels, including through video and photography

• Proven experience in multimedia content production and management, coaching and direction, preferably within an educational or institutional setting

• Proficiency in multimedia editing software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator) or equivalent tools

• A proactive attitude, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to maintaining the university's brand guidelines

• Ability to set deadlines and ensure that those deadlines are met with the ability to multitask and take on tasks in support of the team
