Responsibilities:

The APNH Food Pantry Assistant, will assist with staffing the food pantry, which will involve greeting and assisting customers with making selections, when necessary assist customers with their grocery bags and keep accurate records of customers who visit the pantry.  The Food Pantry Assistant will also re-stock the pantry, keep product shelves organized and maintain a clean area.  

 

If available, travel with the Nourishment Coordinator to the CT Food share warehouse in Wallingford to pick-up food for the week. Help load and unload food into the APNH cargo van, which may require lifting items up to 50 lbs.

 

The Food Pantry assistant will also assist the Caring Cuisine program which provides pre-packaged frozen meals that are specially designed to meet the nutritional needs of individual APNH clients.  The pantry assistant will assist with bagging and organizing frozen meals for delivery and other tasks as necessary.

 

During the lunch hour, the Food Pantry Assistant will help to manage the reception area which consists of answering the phone and greeting guests who visit APNH.

Qualifications:
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
Hours of Position:
  • The operational hours of the APNH Food Pantry are 10am-3pm on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Applicants for the Food Pantry Assistant must have available time to work within those days and hours.
