Job Summary:
The Surgical ICU Float will be responsible for Critical Care management of patients in the ICU and on the step-down units. Daily rounding with multidisciplinary team including the attending physician to establish comprehensive care plans. Complete admissions from the ED and transfers from outside facilities.
Participate in patient management, perform and/or order selected surgical procedures, tests, and exams for diagnostic purposes. Comprehensive understanding and interpretation of lab and test results. Facilitate discharges via participation in multi-disciplinary rounds and collaborating with numerous disciplines and multi-disciplinary team members.
Critical care skills recommended but not required: arterial line placement, central line placement, management of Swan-Ganz catheters, ECMO/Impella knowledge, management of inotropic medication and multiple drips, and ventilator settings and management.
Role will include floating to various ICUs in the hospital and working various shifts. Coverage includes, but not limited to: Cardiac ICU, Medical ICU, Surgical ICU, Burn Unit.
Minimum Qualifications:
NYS licensed/registered NP or PA required. Master’s Degree as a Nurse Practitioner or Certified Physician Assistant & current National Certification consistent to the clinical practice also required. NPI number and be Medicare enrolled with a Medicare Identification Number (or PTAN) (or eligible for Medicare Enrollment within 6 months of hire).
CPR-BLS Certification required at the time of appointment.
Minimum of one (1) year experience.
Must successfully pass pre-employment clearances and receive Medical Staffing Services Credentialing clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience in an Inpatient/ICU setting strongly preferred.
Work Days:
8 & 12 hour shifts, with rotation to nights & weekends.
