About the Position:
The Office of the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs plans and manages all academic and instructional resources that support the teaching, scholarship, and research mission of Cal State Fullerton. The office strives to serve as a central resource for the campus community, ensuring quality academic programming and fostering partnerships with both internal and external stakeholders to promote and support faculty and student success. The Office of the Provost achieves this by empowering faculty, staff, administrators, and students with the knowledge and support necessary so that we can each carry out our individual roles in fulfilling our university’s mission. We seek an exceptional individual to join our Provost/Vice President Academic Affairs Operations team as the Director of Student Success Grants and Projects (Administrator II). The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude, an active, energetic mind, and a leadership style that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.
The Director of Student Success Grants and Projects provides advanced-level expertise and leadership for externally funded programs, initiatives, and projects in the Office of Student Academic Support, including those funded by the Chancellor’s Office. The position will also lead the Office of Student Academic Support project team, directs the highly complex award and grant activities within the Office of Student Academic Support. The position leads and directs operations of large-scale grant-funded programs and provides direction to grant-funded staff. Other duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications
|
Graduation from a four-year college. At least five years of experience working with CSUF Auxiliary Services Corporation Sponsored Programs, providing professional administrative or operational support in a staff capacity, and assisting with the budgeting process. At least ten years of experience in managing post-award activities for CSUF grants (state or federal). Experience and knowledge of the fundamental federal regulations applicable to the conduct of research projects, the Federal Acquisition Regulation, and the Policies of the major deferral granting agencies. Demonstrated ability to supervise a workforce, including organizing workflow to accomplish objectives, delegating responsibilities, identifying training needs and opportunities, developing incentives, evaluating supervisee effectiveness, and administering corrective action when needed. Demonstrate exemplary professionalism (to include appropriate confidentiality), commitment to equity and inclusion, lifelong learning, and self-professional development. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with various constituencies in a diverse community. Excellent written and verbal communication, ability to communicate to various audiences using multiple communication channels and develop and deliver presentations. Ability to lead and manage multiple projects and prioritize short- and long-term goals and responsibilities with frequent interruptions.

CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to complete the background check satisfactorily may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

Preferred Qualifications
|
Extensive and in-depth knowledge working with federal, state, and private foundation grant management, including garnering, implementing, monitoring, and reporting requirements. Ability to plan budgets and complete application requirements for multi-million-dollar grants and projects. Detailed-oriented with quantitative and budget information, proactive about deadlines for grant submissions, implementation, and reporting requirements. Knowledgeable of CSUF’s pre- and post-award organizational structures of the Office of Grants and Contracts and the CSUF Auxiliary Services Corporation Sponsored Programs office. Knowledgeable in monitoring budgets by coordinating and compiling data, researching past expenditures, projecting expenditures for the following, and making budget recommendations. Knowledgeable in and skillful at organizing and presenting complex grant budget and activities updates using tools such as Smartsheet Dashboard. Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments. Maintaining confidentiality, teamwork spirit, and adaptability to change fosters a cooperative environment. Ability to select, supervise, and train represented and non-represented staff, including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments and assessing performance.
