Position Description

Job Overview

Under general supervision, the Lead Building Service Engineer (Lead BSE) works with and provides technical guidance and support to a small group of skilled and semi-skilled workers involved in the preventive maintenance, installation, operation, and repair of mechanical systems related to heating, ventilating, air conditioning (HVAC), refrigeration, energy management, and water and sewer systems throughout the campus. This position is primarily a working-level role and is expected to perform the full range of BSE duties on a regular basis or in related HVAC trade while performing lead work coordination and following through on project plans. May be required to work an alternate work schedule, i.e., swing shifts, night shifts, and weekends.

This is a full-time, non-exempt position, which will lead toward permanent status following the successful completion of a probationary period.

Pay, Benefits, and Work Schedule

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $7,702 - $8,014 per month (step 8 - step 10)

CSU Classification Salary Range: $6,705 - $9,768 per month

Salary is commensurate with the background and experience of the individual selected.

This position is eligible for a broad range of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurances, retirement (CalPERS), tuition waiver, vacation and sick leave. In addition, 15 paid holidays are offered each year; 14 scheduled on specific days and a Personal Holiday that may be taken any time during the year.

This position is required to work in person on campus.
