Part-Time Lecturer Pool for Department of History AY 24-25 East Bay
The Department of History seeks one or more part-time lecturers for a pool from which instructors will be considered for teaching appointments as they become available for Fall Semester 2024, and Spring Semester, 2025. The department offers a range of lower- and upper-division courses to majors pursuing the BA in History, General Education students, prospective middle and high school teachers in the Single Subject Matter Preparation Program in Social Science, and Public History Certificate students. The department also offers an MA degree program, in which lecturers holding the Ph.D. occasionally teach reading seminars in their specialties.
Part-Time Lecturer Pool for Department of Political Science AY 24-25 East Bay
The Department of Political Science seeks one or more part-time lecturers for a pool from which instructors will be considered for teaching appointments as they become available for Fall Semester 2024 and/or Spring Semester 2025. The department offers a range of lower- and upper-division courses for: majors pursuing the B.A. in Political Science (with three concentrations - Pre-Law, Public Affairs and Administration, and Traditional); and for non-majors who seek to fulfill General Education requirements.
Outreach Coordinator (Temporary) East Bay
The Outreach Coordinator will report to the Principal Investigator and work with other investigators on the grant to facilitate outreach activities for students and partners as part of the INCLUDE grant supporting data science programs at Cal State East Bay and community colleges. They will work across departments, campuses, and organizations to develop plans and activities for data science promotion and data science project collaborations. This position will lead all outreach activities for the grant, including but not limited to mini workshop development, flyers, and social media content, and maintain detailed documentation of these activities.
Lieutenant East Bay
Under the general direction of the Chief of Police, the Lieutenant will manage the administrative functions of the Police Department ensuring a comprehensive, twenty-four hour law enforcement and security program for the entire campus community remains operational. The Lieutenant will participate as part of the executive team in the overall leadership and management of the Department and must be able to demonstrate the ability to exercise independent judgment and sound decision-making skills. The Lieutenant must possess excellent oral and written communication skills. The Lieutenant may work weekends and/or be contacted after normal business hours. Working conditions are administrative, but may include field duties. The Lieutenant will ensure the Department's directives are adhered to, goals are accomplished and objectives met in the absence of the Chief of Police, the Lieutenant may serve as a field commander at the scene of a major incident. The Lieutenant will perform traditional law enforcement related duties and must have command knowledge of law enforcement procedures as they relate to the University jurisdiction.

Budget Analyst East Bay
Under the supervision of the Director of Business Operations and Development, the Budget Analyst is responsible for technical and analytical budget analyses and related work required to administer the Facilities Development & Operations (FD&O) budget of over $11 million and the utility budget of $7 million. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: the development of annual and mid-year budgets and reporting, processing budget transfer requests, tracking purchase orders, and processing invoices and check requests. This position provides financial oversight and recommendations to the Director of Business Operations and FD&O Management regarding FD&O operational budgets and expenditures. The Budget Analyst coordinates the budgets to monitor, track, and verify funding sources and account numbers, validate expenses with project and service managers, and facilitate various budget logistics. This position provides complete monthly, quarterly, and yearly reports for budget review and customized reports as requested.
Custodian (Temporary, Part-Time) East Bay
Work assignments typically include cleaning and maintaining assigned areas which includes activities such as: cleaning and dusting all surfaces, removing trash and recyclables, cleaning and disinfecting restrooms and replenishing supplies; cleaning glass doors and windows, and blinds; cleaning stairwells, walkways and elevators, and performing general housekeeping; clean and maintain floors including sweeping, dry and/or wet mopping; stripping, sealing, waxing, and polishing floors, vacuuming, spot and full cleaning of carpets.
Building Service Engineer East Bay
The Building Service Engineer completes independent and on-going performance of maintenance and repair work on a wide range of heating, ventilating, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, refrigeration, air conditioning, and water systems. Building Service Engineers perform work on complex refrigeration and air conditioning systems. Under general supervision, the Building Service Engineer will: operate, maintain, repair and inspect heating, ventilating, air conditioning, refrigeration, and water systems and equipment; test, adjust, and calibrate boiler and air conditioning machinery and mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and/or microprocessor control instruments; test and chemically treat boiler, condenser, and cooling tower water and water from other systems; maintain, inspect, diagnose and make emergency repairs to steam, natural gas, water, refrigerant, air and oil distribution systems; regularly use features of building automation systems to diagnose and troubleshoot problems in the HVAC systems while optimizing energy usage; monitor building automation systems data and adjust systems accordingly; respond to service requests to adjust air flow, temperature and humidity balances for individual rooms, building areas or buildings; maintain swimming pools; troubleshoot basic elevator problems; maintain logs of maintenance and repairs using manual and computerized record-keeping systems; and may instruct and lead semi-skilled or unskilled assistants. This position also repairs and replaces bearings, shafts, seals, rings and electrical wiring and install central system parts, gauges, valves and pipes which requires the application of journey level skills in one or more of the applicable Trades.
Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Mechanic East Bay
The Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Mechanic is distinguished from other classifications in the series by responsibility for the full range of service, maintenance and repair on more complex refrigeration and associated HVAC systems and equipment. The work of an Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Mechanic requires a comprehensive knowledge of refrigeration and air conditioning systems. The ideal candidate must be thoroughly familiar with all safety codes and regulations related to the installation and operation of refrigeration and air conditioning systems. Positions in this classification require certification from the Environmental Protection Agency in the use and disposal of compressed refrigerants.
Dean of Libraries East Bay
The University Libraries at Cal State East Bay, Hayward and Concord, are the heart of the campus, inspiring students, faculty, and staff to engage in the adventure of intellectual discovery and creation. Specifically, the Cal State East Bay Library (Library) on the Hayward campus serves as a hub of academic support on campus by providing an engaging environment for study and an integrated suite of student services, including the Student Center for Academic Achievement (SCAA) and technology support in the Learning Commons in addition to reference and research services, and faculty support. The libraries consist of 14 library faculty, 24 staff, and 47 student assistants. The Library moved into a new state-of-the-art building, CORE, in the fall of 2022. Within CORE, faculty and staff now have access to twice as many study seats as in the old library and 32 new and improved group study rooms. Academic Success & Wellness Counselor, Project IMPACT (Trio Grant) - (Temporary) East Bay
The primary purpose of this position is to provide academic advising and academic wellness counseling to participating students. The Project Impact - Academic Success & Wellness Counselor supports students in completing their post-secondary education by providing targeted advice related to class selection, the development of educational plans and monitors the academic progress of students in the program. Furthermore, the Academic Success and Wellness Counselor provides academic wellness counseling to support students in the development of non-cognitive skills including academic & realistic self-appraisal, growth mindset, locus of control, positive self-concept, motivation and long term goal setting. This position will function as a team member of Project IMPACT and will assist the Project IMPACT Program Coordinator with carrying out the requirements of the grant. This is a temporary, full-time, grant funded position through December 31, 2024, with the possibility of re-appointment for a maximum of three years from the date of hire.
Assistant Professor for the Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences East Bay
The department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences is seeking to fill a tenure-track full time Assistant Professor position. Area of specialization is open, but should complement the expertise of current faculty. Preferred candidates will be able to teach one or more academic courses from among the following content areas: linguistic and cultural diversity, speech science, voice, motor speech disorders, cognitive-communicative disorders, school-age language disorders and literacy, speech sound disorders, fluency. In addition to teaching, all faculty are expected to sustain a record of scholarly work, advise majors, assist the department with administrative and/or committee work, and assume campus-wide committee responsibilities. The department offers a Bachelor of Science degree and an accredited Master of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology.

Assist in the planning and implementation of practice, competitions, travel, equipment, paperwork and any other administrative duties set forth by the Head Coach. Temporary Office Support Pool East Bay
This announcement establishes a one-year temporary, on-call Office Support Pool.  Assignments typically vary in duration from one day to three months but may last as long as six months, and are generally between 20 and 40 hours per week.  Office Support employees perform a variety of office duties including a full range of receptionist duties, typing, data entry, budget, filing, copying, opening/sorting/distributing mail, faxing, scheduling meetings, maintaining calendars, making travel arrangements, etc.  Duties and responsibilities will vary depending on the hiring department.
