Salary and Benefits

PLEASE NOTE:  The starting salary placement depends on qualifications and experience and is anticipated to be in the range of $2,208.00 per month to $2,400.00 per month at part-time, 24 hours per week.  The full-time salary rate would be $3,680.00 per month to $4,000.00 per month.

About the Position

This is a part-time, (60% time base), 24 hours/week, grant-funded, temporary position through June 30, 2025 with the possibility of reappointment. 

The Supported Decision Making grant is an 18-month grant that is focused on creating training modules for professionals in what supported decision making is. In addition, the grant will fund a statewide conference focused on this topic. The Grant Program Assistant works closely with and under the guidance of the Project Lead Researcher/Co-Investigator and will work directly with the project team.  This position will interface with university faculty and staff, funders, and students and will be responsible for coordinating meetings, creating publicity for the grant's efforts, creating and maintaining grant materials in online platforms (i.e., google, CANVAS), assist with the creation of online modules, assist and promote a statewide conference.

Responsibilities

General Program Assistance:

  • Assist in managing the budget (maintaining a google drive folder with budget summaries; keeping track of what has been spent) and working with the Office of Research and Sponsored Projects to ensure compliance with all university and funder grant requirements.
  • Assist in maintaining the shared project calendar and task list/timeline.
  • Maintain project records as required for funder and general program operations in adherence to university standards for data security, confidentiality and retention.
  • Assist in preparing reports for the funder.
  • Respond to project inquiries from students, faculty, staff, administrators and the general public.
  • Contribute to the overall success of the project.
  • Assist with coordinating project meetings and events (e.g. team meetings, funder meetings, focus groups, trainings, exhibitions, etc.).
  • Assistance with project meetings and events may include reserving rooms, ordering supplies and/or refreshments, tracking RSVPs, taking minutes at project meetings and following up with meeting participants as needed.
  • Assist in maintaining the shared project calendar, task list/timeline and bibliography.
  • Maintain project records as required for funder and general program operations, in adherence to university standards for data security, confidentiality and retention.
  • Assist in preparing reports for the funder.
  • Respond to inquiries from students, faculty, staff, administrators and the general public regarding the project.

Creation of Online Modules and Coordination of Statewide Conference:

  • Respond to inquiries from students, faculty, staff, administrators and the general public regarding the project.
  • Assist students, faculty, staff, and community members with understanding and accessing project activities and resources.
  • Assist in development and implementation of a statewide conference.
  • Assist with creation of professional learning modules.
  • Recruit individuals with disabilities and their family members to join our team and participate fully in module creation.
  • Create publicity materials, including flyers, website content and PowerPoints.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Fully functional knowledge of and skill in standard office procedures and practices.
  • Ability to understand and operate in a variety of organizational structures. 
  • Thorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Ability to clearly communicate orally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of business mathematics beyond basic arithmetic.
  • The ability to use and quickly learn new office support technology systems and software packages.
  • These entry qualifications would normally be obtained through a high school program, technical/vocational program, or their equivalents combined with several years of related office work experience.

Preferred Skills and Knowledge

  • One year of full-time equivalent experience working on a time-limited, grant-funded project.
  • One year of full-time equivalent experience working in higher education.
  • Basic background in research, equivalent to one undergraduate research course.
  • A Bachelor's degree or a combination of education, training, and relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of Supported-Decision Making and Disability Justice.

Condition(s) of Employment

Satisfactory completion of a background check (including LiveScan, as appropriate), that may include, but is not limited to: criminal records check, verification of academic credentials, licenses, certificates, credit history, professional references and/or verification of work history is required for employment.  Cal State East Bay will issue a conditional offer of employment to the selected candidate, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Unsatisfactory results may also affect the continued employment of current Cal State East Bay employees who were conditionally offered the position.

All background checks are conducted through the university's third party vendor, Accurate. LiveScan is conducted through the University Police Department.
