DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATIONAL LEADERSHIP 

Part-Time University Fieldwork Coach Position  

POSITION AVAILABLEOne or more temporary, part-time lecturers for a pool from which instructors will be considered for appointments as they become available during Academic Year 2026-2027. 

DUTIES OF THE POSITION: The university fieldwork coach is a temporary, part-time faculty member of the Department of Educational Leadership focused on coaching preliminary and clear administrative credential candidates. CSU East Bay’s Department of Educational Leadership is committed to five Principles of Social Justice. The expertise of a university coach should include understanding of current standards and policies governing K-12 education and credentialing, facilitating adult learning, effective coaching methodologies, conflict resolution, the practices and dispositions of equity-minded leadership, and evidence-based practices for leading the state’s diverse PK-12 educational organizations. 

Responsibilities include the following: 

  • Co-developing the course syllabus  

  • Meeting regularly with the candidates 

  • Using effective questioning and coaching strategies to help candidates become skillful in continuous self-assessment and self-reflection as leaders 

  • Providing timely and specific feedback on student work 

  • Supporting candidates to meet the performance expectations and standards for California administrators 

  • Supporting candidates through the CalAPA Leadership Cycles 

  • Responding to student requests and inquiries 

  • Maintaining a record of student assignments 

  • Attending all mandatory program meetings, professional development activities, and leadership institute 

Lecturer evaluation includes meeting the above responsibilities, student evaluations, and currency in the field. Evidence of currency may include professional activities, professional learning, instructional materials, or incorporation of technology. 

This position may include evening and weekend online or in person meetings at the Hayward campus, Concord Center, and/or online. 

RANK AND SALARY: Salary is dependent upon educational preparation and experience. Please be advised that an appointment is contingent upon budget and enrollment considerations and subject to order of assignment provisions. The salary ranges for the Lecturer-Academic Year classification are listed below: 

Lecturer AY (Range 2): $5,507 - $6,677 

Lecturer AY (Range 3): $6,221 - $13,224 

Lecturer AY (Range 4): $6,825 - $14,523 

Lecturer AY (Range 5): $8,593 - $15,211 

The anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with education and experience. 

DATES OF APPOINTMENT: The temporary faculty pool is continuously open, and positions are filled as needed, based on student enrollment and funding. 

MINIMUM DEGREE REQUIREMENT: Candidates must have a Master’s degree and relevant professional experience. 

PREFERRED: Doctoral degree preferred.

Condition(s) of Employment

Unsatisfactory results may also affect the continued employment of current Cal State East Bay employees who were conditionally offered the position.

All background checks are conducted through the university's third party vendor, Accurate. 

Education Code 89521 Requirements: Applicants will be required to disclose whether they have received a final administrative decision or final judicial decision determining that they have committed sexual harassment within the last 7 years only after a determination is made that they meet the minimum qualifications for the position, and before an offer of employment is extended.
