About the Position: 

The Division of Human Resources and Inclusive Excellence is committed to the mission of meeting the needs of a multi-cultural, inclusive campus community. Our highly qualified team of professionals is focused on providing human resource services and supports the University's goal to recruit and retain a high-quality faculty and staff. We seek an exceptional individual to join our Compensation Services team as the Compensation Specialist (Confidential Administrative Support  II). The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude and an active, energetic mind characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to inclusivity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.

Under the direction of the Associate Director of Compensation Services, the Compensation Specialist contributes to the overall efficiency and success of the Compensation Services Unit within the Division of Human Resources and Inclusive Excellence. This position is part of a team responsible for collaborating on unit objectives, integrating, and making suggestions on long- and short-range goals. Performs confidential analytical functions related to staff positions, requiring a high level of initiative, judgement, and discretion. Completes compensation and classification related analyses, including but not limited to, classification reviews, in-range progressions, reassignments, stipends, and bonuses for staff positions. Interprets and applies various Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA), salary programs, federal and state laws, as well as complex and sensitive CSU Classification Standards and salary data. Compiles reports, processes personnel documents, and other administrative functions. This position routinely accesses confidential information and provides management with analysis and data for issues related to collective bargaining agreements, including meet and confer issues as they relate to classification and compensation. Maintains a high level of confidentiality. Other duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications

High School diploma or the equivalent at least one year of general office experience. Possession of fundamental written and oral communication skills, including a basic foundation in English grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Ability to understand basic office procedures, operate standard office equipment and software, and perform basic arithmetic. Possession of basic typing and keyboard skills. Ability to provide work direction, train, and provide guidance to other employees. Ability to make recommendations on employee staffing issues. Ability to coordinate events and special projects.

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to complete the background check satisfactorily may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.  

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university. At lease two years of Human Resources experience. Familiarity with collective bargaining agreements and their impact on compensation practices. Skilled in interpreting complex data and presenting findings clearly. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to navigate sensitive issues and maintain confidentiality. Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities. Prior experience working with compensation and classification actions in a higher education environment.

Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, the current Annual Security Report (ASR) is available for viewing at: https://hr.fullerton.edu/risk-management/clery-act/. This report contains the current security and safety-related policy statements, emergency preparedness and evacuation information, crime prevention and sexual assault prevention information, and drug and alcohol prevention programming. The ASR also contains statistics of Clery Act crimes for California State University, Fullerton for the last three (3) calendar years. Paper copies are available upon request at the CSUF Police Department.

 

Notice of Availability of the Annual Fire Safety Report (AFSR)
In addition, pursuant to the Higher Education Opportunity Act, the AFSR is also available at https://hr.fullerton.edu/risk-management/clery-act/. The purpose of this report is to disclose statistics for fires that occurred within California State University, Fullerton housing facilities for the last three (3) calendar years, and to distribute fire safety policies and procedures intended to promote safety on campus.
