Position: Assistant Professor of Civil Engineering (Transportation)
Effective Date: August 17, 2023 (Fall Semester)
Salary Range: Commensurate with qualifications and experience

Required Qualifications:
- B.S. in Civil Engineering and Ph.D. in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Transportation Engineering or closely related field. Degree at time of application or official notification by August 1, 2023.
- Demonstrated potential for action contributing to the success of a diverse student population
- Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching at the college level
- Demonstrated potential for successful research, scholarly and creative activities
Preferred Qualifications:
- At least two years of effective teaching experience in undergraduate and/or graduate level courses in in Civil Engineering and/or Transportation or other related fields
- Record of successful development of a research program
- Demonstrated expertise in the sustainability/environmental aspects of the transportation engineering, including, but not limited to: zero-emission/alternatively-powered mobility technologies, climate change adaptation, and policy implications
- Demonstrated action on issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion across teaching, scholarship, and service
- Experience in curriculum development
- Experience in student advising and supervision
- Research or professional experience in Civil Engineering and/or Transportation Engineering
- Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) or the potential for registration
- Experience of successfully working with populations demographically and socioeconomically similar to the CSULB student body
Duties:
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Civil Engineering and/or Transportation Engineering [Mode of instruction may include in-person, hybrid, online, and/or any combination thereof.]
- Contribute to diversity and equity in education through scholarship, teaching, and/or service
- Advise and mentor students from diverse backgrounds
- Develop and update curriculum including new and existing courses related to the area of expertise
- Maintain and engage in research, scholarly and creative activities related to the area of expertise leading to publications and presentations
- Organize and supervise research facilities
- Participate in service to the department, college, university, and community
