Job Summary
This position academically monitors night-time study hall (4:00pm-9:00pm) for CSULB's NCAA student-athlete population. This position coordinates academic support assistance with the Bickerstaff Academic Center's (BAC) Directors, Assistant Director of Academic Support and Academic Advisors. Facilitates and monitors tutor and peer mentor appointments as well as drop-in tutoring. Provide nightly updates and reports on student academic accomplishments and tutorial session outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain an academically enriching study environment for CSULB's NCAA student- athlete population.
- Monitor live and virtual academic support sessions to ensure productivity and academic integrity compliance.
- Maintain working knowledge and comply with all NCAA compliance, Big West Conference, Athletic Department. and CSULB rules and regulations that apply to working with the NCAA student-athlete population.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of general NCAA rules, student-athlete issues, and academic complexity. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with CSULB staff and students. Ability to work with a high profile at-risk culturally diverse population. Ability to work with a diverse university population and student athletes. Comply with all NCAA and Big West Conference rules and regulations that apply to working with the student-athlete population. Attend mandatory training with the director of compliance in the Athletic Department. Computer experience: CMS, Beach Board, Advisor Trac, GradesFirst.
Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."
Education and Experience
Equivalent to a bachelor's degree in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration, or a job-related field and one year of directly related experience required.
Physical Summary
- Sedentary work - Involves mainly sitting. Walking and standing are minimal. Lifting is limited to lightweight objects. (10 pounds or less).

Compensation
Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.
Hiring Range: The hiring range for this position is $1,779 - $2,517 per month commensurate with candidate's education, experience, skills, and training.
CSU Classification Salary Range: The CSU Classification Salary Range for this position is $1,800 per month.

Long Beach State Athletics is committed to following NCAA, Big West Conference, Golden Coast Conference, and Mountain Pacific Sports Federation rules and regulations. Therefore, the incumbent is required to maintain a working knowledge of these rules and regulations.
A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment.
