Job Summary 

Under the general direction of the Artistic Producing Director and the Managing Director for the California Repertory Company and Theatre Arts Department, is responsible for operation and fiscal activities of the Theatre Arts Box Office and the University Theatre Box Office, which includes rendering cash transactions, reconciling, auditing, deposits, selling tickets, and interpreting policies, Education codes, and procedures for cash administration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manages the daily box office fiscal operations for all Theatre Arts mail, telephone, and in-person ticket sales.  Operations include selling and accounting of tickets, retrieving, and reconciling performance batch sales reports, and preparing transmittals, and preparing of various event, and final show sales reports including Class Pass subscription sales.
  • Programs all scheduled season and special events into the Ovation ticketing system for the Cal Rep Theatre, University Players’ Theater, and Studio Theatre including encoding various pricing structures for various ticket sales campaigns.
  • Oversees daily operations of the ticket offices.  Plans and coordinates with the Managing Director the training and supervision of MFA students in basic box office operations management including fiscal, security, safety and customer service issues.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of security procedures required for cash and ticket handling. Excellent written communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills. Flexible in multi-tasking, managing several projects at a time, and functioning under deadlines. Ability to be a team player.

Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community.  Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures.  Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."

Education and Experience

A bachelor’s degree or equivalent and two years of related experience required.

  • Sedentary work - Involves mainly sitting. Walking and standing are minimal. Lifting is limited to lightweight objects. (10 pounds or less).

Compensation

Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.

Hiring Range: The hiring range for this position is $3,233 - $4,050 per month commensurate with candidate's education, experience, skills, and training.

CSU Classification Salary Range: The CSU Classification Salary Range for this position is $3,233 - $6,240 per month.

Time Base

1.0 time-base, 40 hours per week.

Duration of Appointment
