Duties and Responsibilities:
Working under the direction of the Outreach Specialist and/or Supervisor, the Library Assistant will help library users identify and check out books and other resources, both in library and online; answer the phone and direct calls to other staff; manage resources in our online system; help visitors sign in, set up for meetings and workshops; and keep the library clean and organized. Requirements include general computer skills, pleasant manner and ability to work cooperatively as part of a team; good organizational skills. The preferred candidate is bilingual (English/Spanish) This is a part-time year-round position. Occasional local travel (reimbursed), evening and weekend hours.This position will be at the Family Focus Resource Center and is not associated with the CSUN library or a satellite CSUN library.
- Maintaining library and resources
- Contacts with staff, parents, caregivers and professionals face to face and via phone
- Entering data and maintaining data systems (checking materials in/out, recording visitors)
- Setting up for support groups and other meetings
- Professional development (participate in staff meetings and trainings)
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to collaborate and work cooperatively with a variety of people
- Ability to lift 20 lbs
Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule
This position is employed through The University Corporation (TUC).
The anticipated hiring range: $18 - $20/hour
Full Pay range: $$16.82 - $20.68/hour
Time Base: Part-Time
