The Director of Development Communications & Donor Relations reports to the Associate Vice President of Development. The Director is responsible for communications designed to support fundraising and campaign goals. The Director is also responsible for supervising one fulltime staff member, the Associate Director of Development Communications and Donor Relations, part-time student workers, and consultants.
Employing a customer-friendly model focused on the implementation of effective best practices in development-focused communications, the Director ensures that all development-oriented promotional materials, proposals and newsletters reflect the appropriate image, quality and tone for San Francisco State University. Writes and/or edits proposals in support of major gifts solicitations for foundations, corporations and individuals. Produces, creates, writes and/or edits and oversees the production of development publications and printed and digital collateral. Writes and/or edits and oversees the production of development-related news, both internally and externally. Working with designers, web masters, photographers and videographers, the Director develops and executes a range of promotional and marketing collateral to support development objectives.
The Director is a motivated, self-directed individual who is capable of working without close supervision to successfully meet the Advancement division’s fundraising goals and campaign objectives. The Director may be assigned to special projects depending on the priorities of the University or Advancement division. Where required, the Director coordinates and/or collaborates with Strategic Marketing and Communications. This position will plan and execute stewardship and cultivation strategic initiatives, donor outreach and communications, donor recognition, acknowledgements, stewardship newsletters, and impact reports. |

The Academic Counselor provides comprehensive academic counseling to help undergraduate students
achieve their academic, personal and career goals. This position works on a college advising team (Lam Family
College of Business, College of Ethnic Studies, College of Liberal and Creative Arts, College of Health and Social
Sciences, College of Science and Engineering, or the Graduate College of Education) within the Undergraduate
Advising Center and advises students from their third through graduation. The incumbent collaborates with
faculty, staff, and administrators to ensure student retention and success from entry through graduation. The
Academic Counselor delivers general advising services, advises at new student orientations, participates in
student retention and graduation initiatives, and offers academic success workshops.
The Academic Counselor assists students in exploring, affirming, and declaring into a major, identifying
strengths and interests, and overcoming academic and personal challenges. Additionally, the Academic
Counselor helps students understand SF State’s campus policies and procedures and graduation requirements
(general education and major/minor). The Academic Counselor is responsible for providing consistent,
accurate, complex, advising to undergraduate students. Working independently, the Academic Counselor
provides individual and group counseling that requires the use of advising and counseling techniques to
evaluate students’ academic interests and to facilitate major and career exploration. The Academic Counselor
assists students in setting goals to facilitate success, persistence, and timely degree completion. In addition,
the incumbent independently leads, develops, plans, implements, and evaluates advising-related projects that
support SF State students. |

Under general guidance the Assignments Specialist will provide administrative and analytical work supporting the Student Housing program, specifically in the operational functions of the informational data flow contained in the database. The incumbent will lead the team responsible for the day-to-day functions related to analyzing, planning, organizing and reporting individual applicant and resident data to Housing, Dining & Conference Services (HDCS) staff members and University campus partners at large.
The Assignments Specialist will collaborate with the divisions’ shared service partners to ensure the efficiency and accuracy of the program’s occupancy management. Working with Facilitie Services (FS), Information Technology Services (ITS), Residential Life (ResLife) and other partners, the incumbent will formulate, assess and evaluate the impact of recommended and/or implemented policies, and directly participating in the operational activities of the program.
The Assignments Specialist is the primary liaison for special assignment groups in need of group housing and special needs for their programs. This includes accommodation request through Disability Program & Resource Center (DPRC), housing requests from Athletics, College of Professional & Global Education(CPaGE) and Guardian Scholars Program (GSP). In addition, the incumbent will be responsible for the housing administrative process as they relate to Res Life.
