The Department of Accounting at San Francisco State University invites applications for part-time lecturer positions (non-tenure track) in Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting, and Accounting Ethics areas for the Fall 2023 - Spring 2024 term.

The SF State Department of Accounting offers a Master of Science in Accountancy degree and a BSBA degree with a concentration in Accounting. Accounting is one of nine departments in the College of Business and has 18 full-time faculty, approximately 40 MSA students, and 600 undergraduate accounting majors. Our students represent more than 100 nationalities and reflect the rich cultural and economic diversity of the Bay Area. San Francisco State University provides a vital educational service to the many business communities in the Bay Area such as the San Francisco Financial District and Silicon Valley.

The three courses available but not limited to in fall are:

ACCT100 Introduction to Financial Accounting. Lecture day/time (TBD).

Course Description:  Objectives, basic theory, principles, and methods of financial accounting. Reports as a framework for decision-making. Measuring and reporting financial position regarding income, costs, and revenue. Lecture, 3 units. 

ACCT 101 Introduction to Managerial Accounting. Lecture day/time (TBD).

Course Description: Introduction to the use of managerial accounting information to plan and control an organization's costs and revenues. Exploration of how quantitative techniques, such as cost-volume-profit analyses, can be used to assist managers in decision-making. Discussion of how to use budgets and variance analyses to evaluate performance. Lecture, 3 units

Qualifications

Required:

  • Master’s degree in the business area.
  • Professional certificates such as CPA, CMA, CIA, or CISA.

Preferred:

  • Recent college teaching experience in the areas of financial accounting, managerial accounting, and Accounting Ethics.
  • Significant and substantive professional or educational experience in Accounting.
  • Ability to incorporate inclusion, diversity, and educational equity in teaching and/or scholarship/creative works
  • Experience in teaching and working closely with students from historically underrepresented communities

Salary

Lecturer A/2 Full-Time Equivalent Salary Range: $4,530 – $6,056 per month
Lecturer B/3 Full-Time Equivalent Salary Range: $5,405 – $11,994 per month 
Lecturer C/4 Full-Time Equivalent Salary Range: $6,190 – $13,172 per month
Lecturer D/5 Full-Time Equivalent Salary Range: $7,794 – $13,797 per month

Anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with education and experience. Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank.
