The Department of Elementary Education at San Francisco State University seeks applicants for its part-time lecture faculty Job Pool Academic Year Fall 2023 - Spring 2024.

The Department of Elementary Education prepares skilled, transformative educators to teach and become leaders in culturally and linguistically diverse schools. We guide and support educators to develop a pedagogy of caring and cultural responsiveness and to teach for social justice and equity for children and their families. Our Multiple Subject Credential, two Master of Arts, and Early Childhood Education program provide current educational theories, innovative teaching practices, and guided field experiences in diverse schools. The department’s Multiple Subject Credential, including the Bilingual Authorization Programs, certify candidates with their Preliminary Credential to teach in California schools, and the curriculum in the credential program reflects current Teaching Performance Expectations (TPEs), State Standards, and Common Core Standards. Our MA programs prepare educational leaders to transform learning environments to support all students’ success academically and socially. Lastly, our ECE undergraduate program prepares pre-service teachers to teach young children at different developmental stages in general, inclusive, and/or multilingual education settings from birth to 8 years old.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:
• Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or related field.

Preferred Qualifications
• Record of teaching contributions in the field of Early Childhood or Elementary Education
• Recent college teaching experience.
• Prior teaching experience in fully online or hybrid formats
• Willingness to engage with university faculty development resources to enhance equity, social justice, and inclusion teaching practices.
• Evidence of a sensitivity to, understanding of, and the ability to manage the classroom environment and effectively provide instruction to college students of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and racial/ethnic backgrounds.

CURRENT TEACHING OPPORTUNITIES
Undergraduate and graduate courses in both Early Childhood and Elementary Education and/or supervision of intern, fieldwork, and student teaching candidates. Graduate program areas include Early Childhood Education and Curriculum & Instruction. The mode of instruction is determined by the department to align with student and program needs. Instructors should be flexible teaching online or in-person according to university guidelines and policies.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES
San Francisco State University supports faculty with professional development opportunities such as ongoing training through the Center for Equity and Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CEETL). The CEETL courses provide a systematic way to assure ongoing course quality and opportunities for new skill development in teaching courses in any learning mode, from in-person to online courses.

This is a CONTINUOUS recruitment for an applicant POOL to fill part-time, temporary, assignments on an as-needed basis, beginning Summer or Fall 2022. We will refer to the POOL of applications on file to fill assignments as the need arises. Part-time faculty applications are accepted year-round. You will be contacted should the program be interested in scheduling an interview. Select candidates may also be invited to give a presentation.

Salary

Commensurate with qualifications and experience. The CSU provides generous health, retirement and other benefits.

Lecturer A/2 Full-Time Equivalent Salary Range: $4,530 – $6,056 per month
Lecturer B/3 Full-Time Equivalent Salary Range: $5,405 – $11,994 per month 
Lecturer C/4 Full-Time Equivalent Salary Range: $6,190 – $13,172 per month
Lecturer D/5 Full-Time Equivalent Salary Range: $7,794 – $13,797 per month

Anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with education and experience. Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank.
