The School of Art at San Francisco State University invites applications for part-time lecturer faculty position for a course or courses for the Fall 23 and/or Spring 24 terms. Candidates holding a Ph.D. or MFA degree are preferred, but applicants with MA degrees and BFA degrees will be considered along with professional experience.
Through its Studio Art, Art History and Museum Studies programs, The School of Art is focused on the production of future generations of socially engaged artists and researchers who understand that individual and collaborative contributions to culture are paramount to their practice.
Amidst an array of San Francisco Bay Area schools and universities, it is a dynamic and affordable place to study studio art, art history and museum studies as an undergraduate or graduate student. The School of Art has been growing a collective body of regionally and globally established artists since 1903.
Our Bachelor’s and Minor degree paths are dedicated to preparing our students for contemporary visual arts employment in a variety of fields. We are looking for dedicated professionals who can effectively provide instruction to students of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and racial/ethnic backgrounds.
The breadth of our studio art teaching includes, sculpture, photography, freehand drawing, tablet drawing, painting, ceramics, digital media, and fiber & textiles. Our art history courses span centuries of art making around the world with a need centering on Latinx, South American, African, Afro-Caribbean, Queer, and feminist arts.

Salary
Lecturer A/2 Full-Time Equivalent Salary Range: $4,530 – $6,056 per month
Lecturer B/3 Full-Time Equivalent Salary Range: $5,405 – $11,994 per month
Lecturer C/4 Full-Time Equivalent Salary Range: $6,190 – $13,172 per month
Lecturer D/5 Full-Time Equivalent Salary Range: $7,794 – $13,797 per month
Anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with education and experience. Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank.
