The University of Dayton's Research Institute (UDRI) is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Senior Sustainment Technician Cold Spray to join our dynamic team in Warner Robins, GA. As part of the Sustainment Tech Transiti division, you will play a crucial role in advancing cutting-edge research and development projects that contribute to the sustainment and enhancement of critical defense systems.
The position provides metal working support for repair processes in support of aircraft and vehicle sustainment technology development and transition including aircraft, vehicle, and ground support equipment maintenance. This role will:Support design and manufacturing in support of additive manufacturing repair technologies.Provide machining process knowledge and support for additive manufacturing repair technologies equipment.Assist in planning, coordinating, developing, and executing test protocols for new repair technologies equipment.Assist in writing and updating standard operating procedures and other documentations required. Consult or provide technical advice to team members on new additive repair technologies. Assist in the organization and ordering of inventory in the maintenance of manufacturing supplies and materials.Checks output for quality assurance and documents or discards defects.Participate in training and community outreach eventsProvide technical oversight/guidance for junior techniciansMaintain a safe and clean workstation.Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
High school diploma or GED.7+ years of experience in machining operations and metal working7+ years of experience in CNC machining operation (Lathe, mill, grinder, EDM, etc,)Familiarity with Computer Numerical Control (CNC) software and machinery used for computer-aided manufacturingProven ability to create, read and interpret models, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reportsMath and analytical skills to take precise measurements and make calculationsAbility to use precision tools (e.g. caliper) to take accurate measurementsWorking knowledge in additive manufacturing/repair technologies and processesProficient in Excel and other MS Office Suite programsDue to the requirements of our research contracts with the U.S. federal government, candidates for this position must be a U.S. citizen
While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:
Apprenticeship or vocational training in machining/metal working10+ years of experience in machining operations and metal working10+ years of experience in CNC machining operation (Lathe, mill, grinder, EDM, etc,)CNC machine code authoring/editing (M-code/G-code)Working knowledge with various manufacturing processes (such as: casting, NC machining, forging, heat treat, thermal spray, cold spray, friction stir, and additive manufacturing for metals and/or plastics)Effective interpersonal communication skills, demonstrated at all levels of an organizationSelf-motivated & organized with ability to work with minimal supervisionDemonstrated successful collaboration within a multi-disciplinary teamDemonstrated problem solving and time management skillsProficient in SolidWorks 3D CAD modeling Quality Assurance background
