The Senior Data Modeler plays a critical role in the design, development, and implementation of a data management strategy that supports the organization's strategic goals and operational needs. This individual will work with cross-functional teams to gather business requirements and translate them into efficient and scalable data architectures. This individual will be responsible for creating conceptual, logical, and physical data models; informing, defining, and documenting data governance standards; ensuring data integrity; and optimizing data storage and retrieval processes.
• High school diploma or equivalent.• At least 5 years professional experience in a data management related field.• Relational and dimensional data modeling, database design, and performance tuning skills.• Understanding of source and target data structures, ETL processes, and products.• Five years experience writing SQL.• Experience with systems analysis functions with emphasis on translating business needs into technical solutions.• Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic environment.• Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:
• Bachelor's degree in a technical related field. • Working knowledge of data warehousing design principles.• Experience working with data in the Higher Education industry.• Experience working with Ellucian Banner, Salesforce, and Canvas data.• Two or more years of experience with relational databases and/or data warehouse technologies.• Three years experience using Oracle database.• Ability to work with users at all levels of the organization.• Ability to promote inclusive excellence in the workplace.
