Position Summary: The University of Dayton is currently seeking a researcher to work in the Nondestructive Evaluation (NDE) Research Laboratory. The NDE researcher will provide expertise in the interpretation, implementation and execution of technical orders and procedures for NDE on aircraft structures. Additional support will be provided for interpretation and understanding of aircraft maintenance and structural repairs. The ability to understand aircraft drawings and CAD models to define structural components and access requirements will be beneficial. The researcher is also responsible for documenting inspection results, writing reports, following and developing inspection procedures, interfacing with other researchers.
Minimum Qualifications:

P1 / Associate Research Engineer Minimum Qualifications:
Formal training in NDE processes, procedures, theory, aircraft maintenance.
3 years hands on experience in aircraft NDI or maintenance.
Excellent written communication skills.
Interest and ability to communicate and interact with multidisciplinary scientists.
Due to the nature of this position, incumbent must be a U.S. citizen and have the ability to pass a national agency check.

P2 / Research Engineer Minimum Qualifications:
Formal training in NDE processes, procedures, theory, aircraft maintenance.
5 years hands on experience in aircraft NDI or maintenance.
Excellent written communication skills.
Interest and ability to communicate and interact with multidisciplinary scientists.
Due to the nature of this position, incumbent must be a U.S. citizen and have the ability to pass a national agency check.

Preferred Qualifications:

P1: Level II NDE certification in ultrasound, eddy current and/or x-ray processes. Bachelors degree in technical field.

P2: Level III NDI certifications or DoD NDI Schoolhouse experience, bachelor's degree or advanced degree in engineering or related field.
