Position Summary:      

The Coordinator of the Office of International Services (OIS) serves as the initial point of contact on OIS matters; independently oversees administrative functions; and serves as a Designated School Office (DSO) for the University.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary point of initial contact on all international student concerns. Independently research and prioritize incoming questions/issues and determine appropriate course of action
  • Interact with University personnel professionally and confidentially
  • Discretely answer student and parent questions about immigration applications
  • Ensure the department receives the administrative support required to meet its commitments and responsibilities
    • Address phone and email inquiries, maintain calendars, and update pending commitments and appointments
    • Resolve departmental inquiries
    • Establish and maintain systems to effectively maintain and track student immigration status
    • Manage expense report process from development through payment
    • Assist Director with reports, projects, special events, receptions, new student orientation, and logistics
  • Serve as a Designated School Official (DSO) for F-1 students
    • Review incoming I-20 applications and notify students of incomplete application materials and upcoming deadlines/events.
    • Assist students with Social Security Number applications

Perform other duties as assigned

Experience & Educational Background:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 2-3 years of administrative experience required. Master’s degree preferred. Equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education will be considered
  • Experience working with international student populations and knowledge of student immigration regulations preferred
  • Experience living or studying abroad preferred

Skills & Competencies:

  • Able to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Able to prioritize assignments, effectively manage time and resources, and produce quality work from conception to completion
  • Self-starter with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines under pressure
  • Possess strong customer service, verbal and written communication, and organizational skills. Patience is a must
  • Effective at developing relationships with office stakeholders while maintaining discretion and confidentiality
  • Must demonstrate good judgment, initiative, and attention to detail
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Knowledge of the Banner Student Information System and Terra Dotta strongly preferred. The candidate will use these systems daily. Willingness and aptitude to learn is required
  • Fluency in a second language preferred (Spanish)
  • Familiarity with general U.S. F-1 student immigration regulations preferred

The candidate will be appointed as a Department of Homeland Security Designated School Official (DSO). U.S. citizenship or permanent residence status is required.
