Position Summary:

The Assistant Director of Residence Life will assist the Director in overseeing the daily operations of the various Residence Halls on the Beren Campus. The Assistant Director should contribute to the overall enhancement of campus life, direct our Residence Advisors / Graduate Advisors, and provide emotional support to the residents on the Beren Campus.

Position Responsibilities: 

Responsibilities:

  • Housing
    • Coordinate and implement the year-round undergraduate women’s housing program. They will work with the Res Life Campus Manager and the Associate Director of Operations in this regard.
  • Staff
    • Assist in the yearly selection process of the Residence Life team of RAs and GAs
    • Develop an ongoing training program for Residence Life Staff, including Resident Advisors (RAs) and Graduate Assistants (GAs)
    • Provide ongoing supervision and support to the Beren Campus RAs and GAs
    • Supervise and support ongoing programming, and their ordering / financial budgeting
    • Maintain regular engagement with RAs and GAs by means of programming and relationships, including the coordination of Shabbatons and staff events
  • Students
    • Ensure a timely response and professional communication with current or prospective residents as well as others who may reach out on their behalf
    • Meet with students to concentrate on socialization challenges and life skills
    • Mediate conflict resolution between friends and roommates
    • Participate in the discipline process for undergraduate women, as needed
  • Administrative
    • Assist the Director of Res Life as they liaise with the Counseling Center, and the Offices of Student Health, Dean of Students, Disability Services and Student Success on student issues, as well as other University offices and departments concerned with student wellbeing.
    • Assist the Res Life Associate Director as they work with the Facilities Management, Plant Operations and the Housekeeping departments in regard to the dormitory buildings
    • Speak with parents dealing with student issues, as needed
    • On call after hours for medical and mental-health emergencies
    • Serve as a member of committees / take a leadership role in ensuring overall student success, such as facilitating the First Year Seminar series and participation in Student At-Risk processes
    • Document and keep timely logs in the Yeshiva Success Network and/or the Res Life database
Experience & Education Background:
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Social Work or related field
  • Master's Degree or relevant experience preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience after graduating
  • Familiarity with the Jewish Orthodox culture on campus
Skills & Competencies:
  • Strong communication skills
  • Creative, Patient and Organized
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Effective computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel and internal databases)
  • Must have some flexible hours
Salary Range:
  • $65,000 - $70,000
