Anticipated Hours Per Week:

50% FTE

Schedule:

Attend 2 lectures per week. Teach 4 discussion sections per week. Specific discussion section assignments will be negotiated and scheduled within the Anthro 104 teaching team during the pre-semester prep and training weeks.

Salary/Wage Range/Lump Sum:

$10,200 fall semester stipend + tuition remission and benefits, $53,050 annual rate

Qualifications:

The preferred candidate will be a graduate student with prior experience in cultural anthropology or a related field, enrolled in a degree program represented within L&S, and have a strong commitment to undergraduate education. The application cover letter should explain the candidate’s qualifications and prior anthropology or related experiences.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

The ideal candidate would possess:
• Demonstrated interest in TA training activities at course, program, department, or college level.
• An understanding of and interest in teaching and learning effective teaching practices.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work well with others in a collegial and professional environment.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively to complete projects in a timely manner.
• Discretion and courtesy in dealing with faculty, staff, and students.

Position Summary/Job Duties:

Teach discussion sections for Anthropology 104: Cultural Anthropology and Human Diversity for the Fall 2024 semester under the supervision of one of our experienced Cultural Anthropology professors. The Teaching Assistant will attend pedagogical training during welcome week and during the semester, will attend staff meetings, provide lesson planning, classroom instruction in four discussion sections/week, grade homework, assignments, quizzes, and projects, and hold regularly scheduled office hours.

Classes are taught in-person on campus.
