Department Overview:

The School of Education's Global Engagement Office’s aim is to support our School in thinking, working, innovating, and partnering with individuals, communities, and groups around the globe. Anticipated Hours Per Week:

10-12 hours per week. Must be available weekends and some evenings.

Qualifications:

Candidates should:
Have interest and experience in international exchange, problem-solving skills, excellent communication skills, and knowledge of the UW-Madison campus and larger Madison community.
Know basic computer software packages (Google, Outlook, Word, PPT), as well as have some experience with and/or willingness to learn additional website development, teaching tools, and video editing.
Be available evenings and on weekends while the scholars are on campus (September 11-October 28, 2024).
Be a UW-Madison graduate student with at least one year of coursework on campus.
Have a valid U.S. Driver’s License or be eligible to drive in the U.S. with a minimum of a 2 year driving record in the U.S. (Ideally, it would be helpful if already approved to drive UW Fleet vehicles.)
Additional language proficiency is helpful, though not a requirement.

Position Summary/Job Duties:

1. Assist in various aspects of planning and administration prior to program start.
2. Support the mid-career teacher participants with their adjustment to Madison and daily needs throughout their stay.
3. Provide information regarding campus resources and community events/opportunities.
4. Plan and execute a minimum of 2 activities/events per week during the program that promote intercultural understanding. One event will be over the weekend and the other will be during the week.
5. Assist scholars with technology support needed to execute the media literacy component of their program.
6. Drive scholars to meetings, school observations, activities, and events.
7. Assist in various aspects of post-program review and reporting for 2024.
8. Perform miscellaneous duties as needed to support this program and its visiting scholars.

Physical Demands:

Must be able to lift 20 pounds.
