Department Overview:

The Language Sciences Program involves faculty from across campus, who specialize in various aspects of language science, including linguistic theory, first and second language acquisition, sign language linguistics, neurolinguistics, historical and sociolinguistics, and endangered language documentation and revitalization. Graduate students receive strong foundational training in theoretical linguistics and experimental methodologies, with flexible options for pursuing specialized research in a variety of interdisciplinary areas.

Qualifications:

Excellent organizational skills, writing and proofreading skills in English, word processing, basic website updating, and broad knowledge of general linguistics.

Preference given to students in the Linguistics Graduate Program and students with some knowledge of Algonquian languages.

Position Summary/Job Duties:

Routine duties include formatting manuscripts, proofreading, handling correspondence (e.g., proof corrections), entering copy editing changes. More generally, the PA will learn the operation of two major scholarly publications, working with authors and publishers, including the review and revision processes. Working closely with the editors, the PA will read manuscripts accepted for publication for content and style and have the opportunity to develop a fine-grained view of how to structure and present a top-quality argument in linguistics.
