Department Overview:

The Undergraduate Chemistry Office supports the operational aspects of the UW-Madison Undergraduate Chemistry Program and the multitude of courses offered by the department. The program serves over 4,000 students per semester, with 55% of all UW students taking at least one chemistry course during their undergraduate career.

Schedule:

Schedule of hours will be determined up on hire, based on worker availability between the hours of 8am and 4:30pm, Monday through Friday.

Salary/Wage Range/Lump Sum:

$12.50 with regular opportunities for increases

Qualifications:

Current UW-Madison undergraduate student.

The preferred candidate will be friendly, dependable, professional, organized, and self-motivated. The ability to maintain confidentiality is required.

Priority will be given to students not enrolled in chemistry courses, available for multiple semesters, and available for one week before the start of the spring semester.

Work during finals week is required, but scheduling can easily accommodate your own final exams.

No prior office experience is needed.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

- Customer service experience
- Effective communication skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Position Summary/Job Duties:

- Staffing the front desk and answering visitor questions
- Assisting with exam administration
- Proctoring quizzes and exams
- Assisting instructors and students with various office needs
- Assisting with special events
