Department Overview:

UW Connects is a University of Wisconsin-Madison statewide engagement unit with the dual purpose of unifying outreach activities on campus, while serving as a one-stop-shop for people around the state looking for UW information and resources. Housed in University Relations, UW Connects is home to three programs: Badger Talks, which brings UW experts to communities around the state on topics important to them; Bucky’s Classroom, an outreach program committed to promoting the value of higher education among 7th grade students across the state of Wisconsin; and Badger Ambassadors, UW students who share their Badger spirit through tabling at events with Wisconsin organizations, groups, schools, and businesses.

Schedule:

The Coordinator will set their hours anytime between 8am and 5pm Monday through Friday, with some flexibility, in addition to occassional school visits and six evening trainings per school year.

Qualifications:

Must be Graduate Student with at least one semester on campus
- High attention to detail and exceptional organizational abilities
- General professional office experience utilizing a high degree of professionalism, discretion, and judgment
- Previous experience handling complex processes/systems/events
- Well versed in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Excellent customer service skills with outstanding written and oral communication
- Experience working with Instagram
- Positive, "can-do" attitude and motivation for improvement
- Experience working with youth, a plus

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Successful experience with program or project management
Organizational skills
Leadership skills; experience training and or mentoring others
Strong communication skills
Comfortable presenting to classroom size groups
Problem solving skills
Basic knowledge of adolescent learning and behavior

Position Summary/Job Duties:

The Bucky’s Classroom Coordinator coordinates logistics for Bucky’s Classroom visits, including but not limited to:
-Ambassador recruitment and interviews
-Ambassador trainings (3 per semester)
-School recruitment and engagement
-Coordinate logistics of visits, including communication with Ambassadors and schools
-Ordering and packing of materials
-Travel arrangements and reimbursements
-Manage social media channels, and website updates

Physical Demands:

typical office scenario, and longer stretches of driving and standing for school visits.
