Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
|
Has experience (or interest in learning!) tools like Gmail, Google Workspace, Canva, Mighty Networks, and social media platforms
Bonus if you’ve worked on events, student orgs, or communications projects before — but more important is your enthusiasm, perspective, and willingness to learn.
Experience using platforms like Mighty Networks, KIT CRM, or Wix Photography, design, or short-form video creation skills

Position Summary/Job Duties:
|
What You’ll Do:
As a work study intern, you’ll work closely with our CEO and COO to support our external communications, partnerships, and community events. You’ll play a key role in helping us tell our story, engage our audience, and build connections across Dane County. Projects and tasks may include:
Developing and maintaining a monthly social media calendar across Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn
Creating and scheduling newsletters and email blasts to promote events, share updates, and amplify community voices
Collaborating with community partners to coordinate joint networking events and summer social mixers
Assisting with volunteer recruitment, communications, and day-of logistics for OPEN’s booth at Magic Pride Fest on August 17
Supporting planning and execution of events like our fall Career Summit and Empowerment Hour Lunch and Learns
Helping manage our online platform (Mighty Networks), including sharing posts, welcoming new members, and highlighting upcoming opportunities
Working on special projects aligned with your skills and interests (i.e. Canva graphics, video content, surveys, etc.)

Physical Demands:

This role may require occasional lifting, bending, and carrying event materials such as boxes, banners, and supplies (typically up to 25 pounds). Setting up and taking down event spaces may involve standing for extended periods, moving tables, and light physical activity.
