Department Overview:

The Center for Healthy Minds (CHM) was founded and is led by world-renowned neuroscientist Dr. Richard J. Davidson. Our mission is to cultivate wellbeing and relieve suffering through a scientific understanding of the mind.

We are a leader in rigorous, interdisciplinary research aimed at understanding the mind and how to nurture wellbeing in ourselves and others. Schedule:

10-15 hours a week (flexible) within 9AM-5PM Monday through Friday.

Salary/Wage Range/Lump Sum:

Minimum: $17/hour

Qualifications:

Preferred candidates will be able to begin as soon as possible.

Preferred candidates will be available to work approximately 10-15 hours per week during the summer and semester. Work hours are between 9 am-5 pm, Monday-Friday. Work hours are flexible around class and exam schedules. A year-long commitment is required.

- Proficient with social media platforms.
- Must be an undergraduate student currently enrolled at the University of Wisconsin-Madison
- Able to commit to this position for a year minimum (two semesters and a summer break)

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to collaborate and communicate with a variety of stakeholders while working toward shared goals
- Willingness to learn communications, marketing and philanthropy best practices
- Willingness to learn marketing, project management and database software
- Interest in communicating with culturally diverse audiences
- Self-motivated; able to work independently
- Displays good judgment and professionalism
- Demonstrated success in completing projects, including multi-tasking and juggling multiple priorities
- Attuned to detail, accuracy, and quality
- Punctuality, reliable attendance, adaptability and flexibility

Position Summary/Job Duties:

This position will include a variety of duties related to communications, marketing and philanthropy. For example:

- Gathering, writing and posting social media content
- Gathering email content for our general and donor newsletters
- Posting content and making edits to the CHM website
- Assisting with donor acknowledgement postcards/letters
- Auditing and refreshing the Engagement print material archive, merch supply and storage spaces
- Assisting with photo/video shoots
- Assisting with event preparation

Physical Demands:

- Sitting for extended periods of time
- Use of fine motor skills (e.g. typing, filing)
- Verbal and written communication
- Ability to perform lifting regularly up to 10 lbs, occasionally up to 20 lbs.
