The mission of the Information School (iSchool) is to educate responsible leaders, critical thinkers, and creative innovators in the information professions who are adept in the creation, retrieval, use, and curation of information in all its forms, who are able to provide access to and understanding of information for all those who need or seek it, and who contribute to individual and collective knowledge, productivity, and well-being;
create and disseminate research about past, present, and future information users and uses, the processes and technologies vital for information management and use, and the economies, cultures, and policies that affect information and access to it;
contribute to the development of the faculties of information schools through a doctoral program built on interdisciplinary research and teaching excellence; and provide useful service to information professionals, the people of Wisconsin, and all information users. |

Schedule:

Anticipated Work Schedule: Attend lecture Mon & Wed 2:25-3:15 pm and be responsible for leading 3 discussion sections; office & other hours TBD.
Discussion sections are Mon 9:55-10:45, Mon 11-11:50am, Mon 4:35 – 5:25, Tues 7:45 – 8:35, Tue 11:11:50, Tue 1:20 -2:10pm, Wed 7:45 – 8:35, Wed 8:50 – 9:40, Wed 11:00 – 11:50, Wed 12:05 – 12:55, Wed 4:35 – 5:25, Thurs 8:50 – 9:40, Thurs 11:00 – 11:50, Thurs 1:20-2:10pm, Thurs 2:25 – 3:15, Thurs 3:30 – 4:20. Office hours will follow University guidelines related to meeting requirements. |

Qualifications:
|
Applicants must be graduate students with excellent English oral and written communication skills, excellent research and reading skills. Experience with online or in-person teaching or learning required. International students who have not received a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution are required to provide English proficiency test score of 26/30 or higher on the speaking section of the iBt TOEFL test, 8.0 or higher on the speaking section of the IELTS, or a score of 50 or higher on the SPEAK test. |

Ideal applicants will have a demonstrated interest in issues connected with information divides, particularly in the Upper Midwest. Knowledge of the impact of and barriers to access to information on the lives of low-income ethnic/racial minority communities in the United States. An understanding of contemporary information society from a sociological perspective.

Position Summary/Job Duties:
|
The Teaching Assistant will assist the course instructor in operation of the fall class, including: attend and participate in each lecture and three assigned discussions each week, complete weekly readings, grade weekly discussions, grade short papers, manage daily interactions with students (via email and office hours).
