The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
 

Position Summary

Reporting to the Associate Director, the Assistant Director assists in coordinating the MBA  and Deferred Enrollment Program admissions operational processes and assists with planning, developing, and implementing recruitment and yield initiatives to meet targeted enrollment goals. The team’s primary focus is to develop a pipeline for our programs and enroll a high-quality, diverse student body that enhances the reputation of the Columbia Business School.


Responsibilities

  1. Coordinate both on-campus and virtual recruitment initiatives: plan and execute recruitment events for prospective students, including special events to increase applications for the Deferred Enrollment program; conduct individual or small group meetings with candidates or pipeline schools, and ensure they have the support and encouragement needed to apply.
  2. Coordinate and execute yield events including both virtual and in-person activities for students who are admitted in the current cycle or are in their deferral period. Cultivate and maintain relationships with current students, alumni, faculty, and administrators and solicit their participation in said events.
  3. Implement communications strategy as set by supervisor which will include outreach communications to our prospective student base, and our yield engagement activities.
  4. Execute on select operational components of the full Deferred Enrollment Program applicant lifecycle including application enhancements and launch, review and interview process, and matriculation process.
  5. Serve as a member of the Admissions Committee through the entire admissions cycle for all programs. Evaluate and recommend applicants: duties may include reading and evaluating applications and conducting interviews.
  6. Promote and market MBA programs: Gain a thorough understanding of our program. Represent the Columbia Business School brand and programs at events and in written communication with prospective and admitted students. Deliver presentations, host receptions, and participate in other general activities as determined by supervisor.
  7. Perform other relevant duties as needed and assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or its equivalent degree required.   A minimum of 2 years related experience required.

  • Excellent presentation, interpersonal, written, and oral communication, and computer skills required (proficiency with MS Office Suite).   Ability to travel (domestic and international) and work evenings and weekends required. Candidate must possess strong skills in diplomacy, tact, and discretion.   The ability to work independently in a dynamic environment with changing priorities and multiple responsibilities is an asset.
