About the role

This role will assist our project delivery teams in managing the design elements of design and construct infrastructure projects and facilitate and maintain relationships with our design partners.

With the pending award of new and exciting projects across VIC, you will use your design experience to work closely with our estimating and project delivery teams. The full-time design coordination function may vary in line with the size, scope and style of projects delivered. The successful applicant will have a diverse skill set and also be happy to fulfil a project delivery role as needed.

Working closely with design consultants, you will use your relationship building and negotiation skills to influence project stakeholders to achieve best for project design outcomes for our clients.

Job tasks and responsibilities

• Responsible for administering the project and BMD Design Management Plans and working knowledge of design management principals.
• Responsible for co-ordinating and managing all stages of a project’s design from tender, award of contract, detailed design, construction, and completions onsite.
• Oversee and coordinate all engineering and design aspects of the project and work with designers as well as the construction team to ensure designs are produced accurately, on time and within budget. Coordinate constructability reviews of design documentation with relevant construction personnel to ensure that the designs meet the project objectives and constructability considerations.
• Take a lead role in problem solving and challenging the design to find innovative solutions to complex engineering challenges during the design and construction phase.
• Identify risks, opportunities, and cost savings during the design phase of the project.
• Championing safety in design to ensure control measures are provided early in the design process to eliminate or minimise risks to health and safety through the lifecycle of the project and infrastructure.  
• Experience in multidiscipline infrastructure projects within Victoria, South Australia or Tasmania.

To be successful in this role, you will need

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
• Chartered Engineer and RPEV Registered
• Prior contracting or design consultancy experience in the civil construction industry within a similar position.
• Knowledge of digital engineering platforms such as AutoCAD or 12D is preferred.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
