About The Role

As a Senior Estimator, you will play a pivotal role in leading the development, review and delivery of first‑principles estimates for major tenders typically ranging from $50m to $500m. You will set the estimating strategy for each pursuit, ensuring accuracy, traceability and alignment to program and methodology.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the review and interpretation of tender documentation, drawings and specifications.
  • Preparing, reviewing and consolidating detailed first‑principles estimates for large‑scale civil tenders.
  • Directing quantity take‑offs, pricing build‑ups and verification processes for consistency and accuracy.
  • Driving risk and opportunity assessments, commercial assumptions and contingency development.
  • Managing market‑pricing strategies including supplier engagement, quote evaluation and scope alignment.
  • Providing commercial and contractual input into tender strategies across D&C, EPC, Alliance and Construct‑Only delivery models.
  • Enhancing estimating tools, templates, benchmarking data and digital workflows (including AI‑enabled tools where appropriate).
  • Coaching estimators and support staff, lifting capability and strengthening review discipline across the team.

About You

You will be a collaborative senior professional with a practical mindset and a strong commercial acumen. You value accuracy, disciplined verification, traceability and continuous improvement in estimating processes.

We are seeking someone who:

  • Brings around 20 years’ civil estimating experience, ideally with a structures focus.
  • Has prior on‑site experience that strengthens practical decision‑making.
  • Is a capable leader with a mentor mindset who drives team performance and capability uplift.
  • Communicates clearly, provides sound recommendations and influences stakeholders confidently.
  • Performs reliably under pressure and thrives in environments with concurrent deadlines.
  • Is open to digital workflow improvements and adopting BMD‑approved AI tools responsibly to enhance productivity and estimate quality.

What We Offer

  • A supportive and collaborative team environment.
  • Access to extensive training including:
    • Targeted Learning Centre modules
    • Compliance training
    • Risk management capability development
    • CostX and other estimating digital tools
    • AI‑enabled workflows and Copilot training
  • Company assets including laptop, mobile phone and vehicle.
  • Opportunities to influence and enhance BMD’s estimating standards, templates and benchmarking.
