About the role

BMD is seeking an Electrical ITS Project Engineer to join our team delivering the Tonkin Highway Extension Project in Byford, one of Western Australia’s major road infrastructure projects.

In this role, you will support the planning, coordination and delivery of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) and electrical infrastructure, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with project specifications and standards.

Working closely with project managers, supervisors, designers and subcontractors, you will provide technical support across ITS and electrical scopes including communications networks, traffic management systems, roadside electrical infrastructure and control systems.

This position provides an excellent opportunity to work on a major infrastructure project, gaining exposure to advanced transport technologies while contributing to the successful delivery of a key transport corridor for the Perth community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of ITS and electrical infrastructure packages across the Tonkin Highway Extension Project.
  • Coordinate and manage ITS subcontractors, suppliers and installation activities.
  • Review and implement design documentation, drawings and specifications for electrical and ITS systems.
  • Assist with procurement of electrical and ITS equipment and materials.
  • Ensure works are completed in accordance with Main Roads WA specifications, project requirements and safety standards.
  • Prepare and manage quality assurance documentation, ITPs and inspection records.
  • Monitor and report on construction progress, cost and schedule performance for ITS works.
  • Provide engineering and technical support to site supervisors and construction teams.
  • Assist with testing, commissioning and integration of ITS systems including communications, field devices and control systems.
  • Contribute to achieving strong safety, environmental and quality outcomes across all project activities.

Skills and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience delivering electrical or ITS works on infrastructure or road projects.
  • Understanding of Intelligent Transport Systems, roadside electrical infrastructure or communications networks is desirable.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and electrical schematics.
  • Strong organisational, coordination and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
