About The Role 

As an Estimator, you will support the delivery of high‑quality tender submissions across BMD Constructions NSW. Working from our Sydney office, you’ll prepare detailed first‑principles estimates, contribute to bid strategy and help maintain consistency, accuracy and disciplined review within the estimating team.

Key responsibilities include:
• Preparing detailed first‑principles estimates across direct costs, indirects and preliminaries.
• Reviewing tender documentation, drawings and specifications to complete accurate quantity take‑offs.
• Applying solid understanding of construction methods and staging to develop practical assumptions and pricing.
• Sourcing subcontractor and supplier pricing, undertaking market testing and analysing scope alignment.
• Identifying scope gaps, assumptions, risks and opportunities within the estimate.
• Supporting tender submissions through documentation, pricing clarifications and collaboration with the bid team.
• Maintaining cost databases and estimating inputs to improve repeatability and accuracy.
• Using estimating software and digital tools effectively, with openness to improved workflows including AI‑enabled tools.

About You

You will be a proactive estimator with strong attention to detail, a collaborative mindset and the desire to continue growing your capability within a high‑performing team.

We are seeking someone who:
• Has minimum 3 years’ estimating experience in a civil construction environment.
• Brings prior on‑site experience that informs practical and buildable pricing.
• Enjoys working collaboratively and communicates clearly.
• Is commercially aware and understands how scope, risk and price interact in a tender environment.
• Remains calm under pressure and thrives with competing deadlines.
• Is eager to learn, open to feedback and committed to continuous improvement.
• Is comfortable adopting digital and AI‑enabled tools to improve estimating quality, accuracy and consistency.
