Accounts Officer 

At Brotherhood of St. Laurence (BSL), we are seeking a passionate Accounts Officer to join our dedicated team.

Location: Office Location

Job Type: Max Term Full-Time working 38 hours per week

Salary: $76,195.24 to $81,702.37 per annum, based on skills and experience plus 11.5% superannuation. (pro-rata for part-time employment)

About the role

The Accounts Officer, within the Aged Care portfolio, is responsible for receivable and payable processes. This includes the preparation and payment of accounts and claims that result in the efficient payment of goods and services received, control of creditor accounts, and the reporting of compliance concerns to the Regional Team Leader of Business Support.

Core Duties Ensure all goods and services ordered are received and the authority used for the purchase complies with internal procurement and delegation policies before processing payments

  • Review all invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment
  • Prioritise invoices according to cash discount potential and payments terms
  • Ensure payments are scheduled in accordance with vendor payments terms and required checks have been completed
  • Provide relevant information to staff and vendors, ensure creditor file maintenance; complete monthly reconciliations and complete invoicing and claims management processes
  • Ensure all ATO requirements through GST are met and follow up on any non-compliance and discrepancies
  • Manage other administration tasks relating to accounts payable and recievable as required
  • Maintain the records of accounts payable by filing all source documents and system generated reports, and prepare reports and other documentation for management requested
  • Provide additional administration support to the Regional Team Leader of Business Support as required
  • Identify and suggest improvements to current procedures and systems in relation to the accounts payable function to ensure maximum efficiency
  • Highlight any areas of non-compliance and risk and provide suggestions to avoid future recurrence
  • Maintain a high level of customer service
  • Work collaboratively within teams to achieve common goals

To be successful in this role, we are looking for someone who has the following key skills and experiences:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
  • Proven experience in processing financial transactions and responding to requests in an effective and timely manner within a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated knowledge and competency in accounting systems and Microsoft Office programs including Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Demonstrated ability to review and interpret numerical information, ensuring attention detail in line with audit, GST, ATO and regulatory requirements
