As a Project Officer, Records, you will:

  • Undertake initial appraisal of records within the project scope, review accession listings, and assess records against approved retention and disposal authorities to make informed recommendations for accessioning or disposal.
  • Accurately capture, classify, and manage both hardcopy and digital records in accordance with the University’s records management policies, procedures, and Public Record Office Victoria (PROV) standards.
  • Apply records retention schedules and classification schemes to support consistent sentencing decisions, and ensure compliance with public records legislation and University governance frameworks.
  • Coordinate the secure and compliant movement of records across campuses and repositories, including arranging transport, inspecting physical condition, and reporting risks to record integrity and preservation.
  • Engage with internal stakeholders, project teams, and repository staff to build and maintain effective working relationships that support collaborative project delivery and records governance.

Please note this position requires an on-site presence at the Waterfront campus in Geelong.

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • Completion of a Diploma and at least two years subsequent relevant work experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of relevant information management experience and/or education/training.
  • Demonstrated understanding of relevant Australian records and archives legislation, including Public Records Act 1973 (Vic) with experience applying those standards in large and complex organisations.
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting records appraisal work in a complex / education environment, as well as applying Retention and Disposal Authority Actions and experience in using Content Manager (TRIM)
