About the role:

The Coordinator, Communications, develops and implements proactive and strategic communications projects, to increase Deakin's profile, promote thought leadership, share university news and drive staff engagement.

As a Coordinator, you will:

  • Work tactically and hands on to plan, write and edit content to support the successful delivery of communications projects, in partnership with a wide range of internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate and support the administrative functions of the broader communications team, including the uploading and distribution of content and facilitation of the Vice-Chancellor’s staff communications and messaging.
  • Contribute to the development of a connected and sustainable suite of key corporate, strategic documents, publications, and plans.
  • Plan, write and edit content to support the successful delivery of strategic communications projects, in partnership with a wide range of internal teams and external stakeholders. 

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • A Degree with subsequent relevant experience; or
  • Extensive experience and specialist knowledge or broad knowledge in the communication field; or
  • An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • A proven ability to thrive in a high-level, detail-focused, fast-paced communications environment.
  • Experience with communication tools and applications for the purpose of monitoring and communicating the Deakin story.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects simultaneously, and navigating short, competing, and changing deadlines.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with and beyond the team environment, demonstrating emotional intelligence and capacity to build networks, consult and seek advice, with a positive, solutions-focused attitude.
