The Senior Manager, Commercialisation will lead our efforts in advancing research commercialisation and translation strategies. In this role, you will be pivotal in increasing commercialisation opportunities, managing key initiatives, and identifying investment opportunities. Your responsibilities will include fostering collaboration between researchers, industry, and government, overcoming barriers to translation and IP protection, and ensuring objectives are met with initiative and determination. Ideal candidates will possess a strong background in stakeholder engagement and technology transfer within a research-focused university environment, with a proven ability to drive impactful projects and build strategic partnerships.
As the Senior Manager, Commercialisation, you will:
- Establish enduring partnerships within Deakin’s research community, act as a trusted advisor, adjusting strategies based on insights, and offering expert solutions aligned with Deakin’s strategic priorities.
- Lead or collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams of researchers, enabling functions and external partners, to identify and implement commercialisation solutions.
- Demonstrate leadership across Deakin by guiding effective management and commercialisation processes for intellectual property and research outcomes.
- Provide expertise and sustainable solutions to enhance Deakin’s patenting processes and portfolio management, optimizing IP protection and research impact aligned with Deakin’s strategy.
- Represent the university in licensing and commercial negotiations for translation of University IP, and effectively liaise on complex commercial contracts and research agreements.
To be successful, you’ll have:
- A postgraduate degree in a relevant discipline or an equivalent combination of qualifications and experience.
- A proven capacity to build relationships and represent effectively across industry, government, and university sectors.
- Extensive experience in managing IP for optimal protection and commercialisation.
- A deep understanding of university research culture and pathways for research commercialisation.
- A demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively to deliver high-quality customer service.
- Proficiency in research and technology concepts with a track record of achieving commercial outcomes.
- Strong negotiation skills, contract management expertise, and project coordination experience.
- Extensive leadership experience in facilitating diverse commercialisation pathways for various technologies.
