The Role:

The PhD scholar will work in the area of Network Science. This project aims to leverage the untapped potential of network science for analysing and disrupting crime and security risks. Developing novel simulation methodologies to systematically analyse the characteristics of cybercrime, organised crime, and extremist networks, the project will use advances in analytics and machine learning to model and reveal effective intelligence targeting and disruption strategies. We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic candidates as PhD scholars. The successful candidate will be based at Deakin University, Burwood or Waurn Ponds campus.  

The PhD will be of 3 years duration, with a stipend/scholarship of $54,400 per annum + $5000 travel allowance per annum.

To be successful, you'll have:

Applicants must meet Deakin's PhD entry requirements, be enrolling full time and hold an Honours degree (First Class) or an equivalent standard Master's degree with a substantial research component. Please refer to the entry pathways to higher degrees by research for further information.

This position is open to domestic candidates only (Australian PR/citizen, or New Zealand citizen).

Additional criteria include:

•             Some prior experience in network science.

The successful candidate will achieve the research aims via a variety of research modalities including research, communication of research and Deakin’s PhD award criteria.
