A wonderful opportunity exists for a Midwifery Clinical Educator to lead and support our Maternity Unit in a casual capacity at Glengarry Private Hospital.


About the Role

At Glengarry Private Hospital, our Maternity Unit is comprised of four (4) birthing suites, an assessment room, 20 antenatal, postnatal and women’s health beds and four (4) Level 2 special care nursery beds. Working with a team composed of midwives, nurses, allied health professionals, obstetricians and paediatricians, our comprehensive maternity service is designed to assist with all stages of pregnancy including antenatal, delivery, postnatal and parenting education.


As a Midwifery Clinical Educator, your role will contribute to and participate in the education of all levels of clinical maternity staff by being involved in department orientation, in-servicing and clinical competence programs. As well as maintaining a high level of nursing care to all patients across our unit, the role will involve, but is not limited to;


  • Providing leadership and guidance in the clinical setting to ensure safe and effective care and communication between members of the health team;
  • Assisting staff as required with the performance of clinical procedures and skills relevant to patient care; and
  • Assisting with the design of assessment tools to establish/ maintain existing clinical skills in all areas of maternity


Flexibility to work across a seven-day rotating roster is essential to this role.


About You

To succeed in this role, you will bring a strong clinical skillset in a hospital setting, with advanced clinical skills working across Midwifery services. Your innovative leadership, passion for seeing your team members succeed and grow, and your commitment to providing a high level of client care and services is essential.


The successful candidate will also meet the following criteria:


  • Registered with AHPRA as Registered Nurse
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in areas of Midwifery (antenatal, intrapartum,
  • postnatal and neonatal care)
  • Preceptorship experience
  • Demonstrated understanding & ability to apply adult learning principles
  • Ability to apply research findings to clinical practice
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency in Microsoft programs (ie. Word, Excel, Outlook)


Candidates who meet the following criteria will be highly regarded:


  • Post-graduate Midwifery qualifications
  • Certificate IV Workplace Training & Assessment
  • Postgraduate qualifications in Education
  • Experience in an Education position
