The Business and the opportunity

Ramsay Health Care (RHC) is Australia’s largest and most respected private hospital operator with 73 facilities in Australia and a presence in eleven countries worldwide. This role is based at Peel Health Campus, one of five RHC WA sites, and will be responsible for external communications related to the hospital. It also plays a key role in ensuing compliance with the public contractual communications requirements. The position will provide the successful applicant with an exciting opportunity to work for an international brand at a local level, with a dynamic team. Reporting to the Peel Health Campus CEO and working in conjunction with the State Communications Manager - North, this role will primarily be responsible for:

  • Building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, including consumers, local organisations and government, especially the South Metropolitan Health Service
  • Coordinating all proactive and reactive media relations activities for the hospital, which will include being part of an on-call after hours roster
  • Developing the communications response to any crisis or disaster at the hospital
  • Identifying, tracking and managing issues
  • Developing all communications collateral for any political visits including speech notes for
  • Ministers and CEO, event briefing notes and other documentation
  • Updating the Peel Health Campus website and working with national team to post strategic social media posts about the hospital
  • Developing the annual report for Peel Health Campus
  • Running media training sessions for staff
  • Developing stories for the national newsletter and maintaining oversight of the hospital newsletter
  • Assisting with the rollout of national communications strategies or projects as required

The Person

The successful applicant will have:

  • A strong alignment to ”The Ramsay Way” – our company philosophy of people caring for

  • 8 - 10 years’ experience in communications, public relations or a related discipline
  • Exceptional written, visual and verbal communication skills, including demonstrated ability to align communication with key business objectives
  • Experience working in complex fast-paced environments
  • Demonstrated experience managing issues and crisis communications
  • The ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work with confidence with internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong people management, negotiation and relationship-building skills


  • Degree or qualification in public relations, communications, journalism or related discipline
  • Previous experience in the health care sector, preferably in a hospital environment
