Perioperative Clinical Nurse Specialist

We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time CNS who will provide education to theatre staff two days per week in addition to clinical leadership.

About the Role:

As the Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will have the opportunity to work in an active leadership role, including the development and provision of evidence-based clinical nursing, while working and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team. The opportunity also allows you to act as a clinical expert, professional role model and change agent to promote practice development and quality initiatives that promote the delivery of safe, efficient, and high-quality customer service and nursing outcomes. Your role will be split between providing clinical leadership and educating theatre staff two days per week. A genuine drive for delivering excellent education outcomes is a must for this role. 

About You:

You will have exceptional customer service, strong communication and interpersonal skills and also meet the following criteria:

  • Relevant registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ nursing experience
  • Experience in Theatre/Perioperative is essential
  • Understanding of scope of practice in line with relevant registration
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently as required
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Ability to assess, plan, co-ordinate and evaluate care delivery needs of patients
  • Knowledge of legislative requirements in relation to nursing practice
  • Knowledge of Quality/Continuous Improvement processes

Desirable:

  • Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment or working towards
  • Experience as a resource and mentor to others in the relation to clinical practice
  • Experience as a team leader

Tamara Private is a 53 bed Medical & Surgical Hospital with a large Day Surgery Unit adjacent to the 3 operating theatres and a large procedure room and a High Dependency Unit. Our surgical specialities include: General Surgery; Urology; Endoscopy; Ophthalmology; Gynaecology; ENT; Orthopaedic (including major Joint replacements); Oral Maxillary & Dental & Plastic Surgery
