Position Overview

The objective of the Breast Care Nurse position, funded by the McGrath Foundation under the Breast Cancer Nurses Initiative is to improve the quality and continuity of care and support provided to clients diagnosed with breast cancer across the continuum of care.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Act as a Breast Cancer resource person for staff and patients and their significant others throughout the region.
  • Provides clinical breast cancer nursing knowledge and case management within the region.
  • Demonstrates leadership and role modelling.
  • Promotes maintenance of clinical standard setting and monitoring, policy development and change management as required to improve the breast cancer patient’s management.

 

Essential

  • Eligible for registration in the category of Registered Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
  • Demonstrated experience in working effectively and harmoniously within a multidisciplinary health care team and independently.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience and clinical/professional knowledge in the provision of breast cancer nursing care.
  • Demonstrated high level interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills.
  • Demonstrated well-developed analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated high level of organisational and time management skills.
  • Extensive knowledge and application of quality improvement, research and best practice principles.
  • Possession of a current WA C Class drivers license or equivalent.

 

Desirable

  • Possession of or significant progression toward the attainment of a post graduate qualification in area of speciality.
  • Understanding of preceptoring, orientation, clinical teaching programs and basic counselling skills.
  • Current knowledge and commitment to Equal Opportunity, Disability Services and Occupational Safety and Health in all aspects of employment and service delivery.

 

Remuneration: On offer is a full-time equivalent, base hourly rate ranging from $62.61 + superannuation based on experience level and qualifications, exclusive of penalties or allowances. (WA gr1-gr8)

Requirements

  • Must provide a National Police check conducted within the previous 12 months
