About the Role

We are searching for suitably experienced and motivated team members to temporarily provide maternity leave cover for the role of Peri-Operative Services Manager at St Andrew’s Ipswich Private Hospital. The Peri-operative Service at St Andrew’s Ipswich Private Hospital comprises 11 operating theatres, a high-volume robotic surgery program (featuring da Vinci, ROSA and VELYS robots), CSSD, Day Surgery, and PACU, supporting a 200+ bed acute hospital. Recent service enhancements include the introduction of a Neuro Stealth Navigation System, enabling the expansion of our neurosurgical capability and strengthening access to advanced surgical care for the Ipswich and West Moreton community.

This fixed-term (June 2026 – December 2026, with the possibility of extension) opportunity is ideal for individuals with strong leadership capability, contemporary peri-operative knowledge, and a commitment to safe and efficient peri-operative operations. The role provides an excellent opportunity to step into a senior leadership position and contribute to the ongoing delivery of high-quality peri-operative care across our theatre complex.

Role Overview

The Peri-Operative Services Manager plays a critical leadership role in:

  • Overseeing the day-to-day operational management of peri-operative services.
  • Supporting nursing, medical, and support staff to ensure high-quality, patient-centred care.
  • Managing staffing, rostering, and resource allocation to meet clinical demand.
  • Promoting a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborating with the executive, clinical teams, and external stakeholders to support best practice and achieve organisational goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily theatre operations to ensure timely and safe service delivery.
  • Provide leadership, direction, and support to the peri-operative team.
  • Manage staffing needs, including workforce allocation, leave planning, and escalation management.
  • Ensure compliance with clinical standards, policies, and accreditation requirements.
  • Foster positive working relationships across scrub/scout, PACU, anaesthetics, CSSD, day surgery and nursing teams.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives, incident management, and risk mitigation.
  • Contribute to strategic planning and service development within peri-operative services.

About you

  • Have substantial peri-operative experience, ideally with previous leadership or coordination responsibilities.
  • Demonstrate strong communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
  • Are committed to high standards of patient safety and clinical quality.
  • Can lead collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams in a dynamic environment.
  • Can work autonomously, manage competing priorities, and remain calm under pressure.
  • Are confident in using relevant digital systems (e.g., rostering, incident management, auditing tools).
