JOB SUMMARY

Provides in-person and remote technical support for audio-visual systems in classrooms, conference rooms, and event spaces across the University's regional campuses. Reporting to the Regional Campus IT Team Lead, this position is responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and supporting AV technologies that enhance teaching, learning, meetings, and special events. The technician works closely with faculty, staff, students, and campus partners to ensure reliable technology services, deliver excellent customer support, and assist with equipment installations, upgrades, and user training. Regular travel between all four regional campuses is required as well as the flexibility to work occasional evenings, weekends, and hours outside the normal work schedule as needed.

Reporting Relationship and Teamwork

Works under general supervision of the Regional Campus IT Team Lead

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supports installation of AV/VTC/LC hardware
  • Creates support documentation
  • Provides classroom, conference room and event space support
  • Identifies and corrects equipment issues
  • Writes basic scripts and procedures
  • Provides support and guidance to users
  • Performs moderate technical tasks
  • Collaborates with departments and partners
  • Monitors performance and proactively resolves issues
  • Supports the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of university information as part of the overall University Information Security Program
  • Related duties as required

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Associates degree and four years of related experience
    1. OR Bachelor’s degree and two years of related experience
    2. OR Six years of related experience
  2. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively through both oral and written means to different populations.
  3. Experience with Extron Audio Video system troubleshooting.
  4. Experience supporting AV installation projects.
  5. Experience interacting with contractors to meet deadlines and design standards.
  6. Experience programming Extron control systems and DSP devices.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Extron Control Professional Certification.
  2. Experience working at a university with multiple campuses.
  3. Experience with MDMs such as Intune and JAMF.
  4. Experience with Microsoft Teams Rooms.

The chosen incumbent must have the ability to travel to all University campuses and locations as needed.
