Job Description

The Patient Care Technician (LVT) will provide technical support to the clinical faculty at the Animal Cancer Care and Research Center (ACCRC) in Roanoke, Virginia. Performs critical care nursing procedures for oncology and post operative patients. This position will provide technical support to clinical faculty, residents and senior veterinary students in the oncology section of the ACCRC including ward and treatment room management, administering treatments, chemotherapy agents, and medications ordered by clinical faculty and residents and may also include more broad/additional anesthesia, surgery and radiology duties.

Multiple positions are available for the first shift.

Required Qualifications

Licensed or Licensed eligible in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Veterinary Technician (LVT). Experience in critical care nursing in a veterinary medical setting. Working knowledge of basic nursing skills; ability to place intravenous catheters; working knowledge of CPR; ability to understand and follow instructions; excellent communications and interpersonal skills; rabies prophylaxis will be required (provided by employer).

Preferred Qualifications

At least 2 years experience in advanced critical care nursing in a veterinary medical setting; Minimum 2 years experience in a veterinary hospital as a Licensed Veterinary Technician; Experience in oncology, anesthesia, and chemotherapy
