Job Description

Are you a passionate technician looking to advance your skills in the veterinary field? Does performing anesthesia on patients excite you? Are you compassionate, self-motivated and dependable? Are you a detailed oriented technician and willing to work in a fast paced environment with a variety of cases including ASA III-V? We are looking for one technician that is ready to jump in and learn loads of information about anesthesia. As a teaching hospital which works with veterinary students, interns and residents in training we are able to be versatile with our anesthetic protocols under guidance of our anesthesiologist. Under the supervision of the anesthesiologist, assists in the acquisition, preparation and application of equipment and supplies required for the administration of anesthesia for both large and small animal. Provides support in anesthesia for routine and complex cases by preparing and maintaining patient monitoring devices and anesthesia delivery systems. Assists in other areas of the hospital as directed by supervisor.

Required Qualifications

Extensive knowledge of all anesthesia supplies, equipment and monitoring; excellent veterinary nursing skills. Ability to place intravenous catheters and to perform endotracheal intubation for veterinary patients. Ability to understand verbal and written instructions, excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently. Rabies prophylaxis will be required (provided by employer). Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) required.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of CPR highly desired; experience in anesthesia and/or intensive care in a veterinary medical setting; experience in special procedures and electodiagnostics.
