The Talent Pathways Initiative Project Coordinator for the Center for Economic and Community Engagement will support the development and implementation of the 12-month planning process for the Region 2 Talent Pathways Initiative.
The Region 2 TPI planning project seeks to lead a robust, industry-led planning process to align industry, workforce, and education partners around talent pathways for high-wage, high-demand occupations in the Life Science & Biotechnology and Transportation Manufacturing & Autonomy industry clusters.
The selected candidate will support the collaborative’s steering committee and two industry-led coalitions, consisting of leaders from industry, economic development, and education in GO Virginia Region 2 (the New River Valley, Roanoke-Alleghany Highlands, and Lynchburg regions). This position will develop and lead data collection and analysis of workforce needs, identify skills, training, and high-impact strategies and projects for future implementation.
This position involves juggling multiple tasks and projects and meeting deadlines. In order to keep everything running seamlessly, the TPI Coordinator should be extremely organized, capable of multitasking and managing time well. This position also requires collaboration at all levels of the partner organizations, working with team members, senior management, and customers to move the project forward and requires excellent communication skills.
• Demonstrated professional project/program management experience in conducting complex activities in an academic or industrial environment
• Strong composition, communication, and organizational skills
• The willingness to work in a fast-paced flexible research environment
• Proficiency with current office computer software such as MS Word, PPT, and Excel
• Proficiency with MS Teams, Zoom, Google Meet, Zoom, and other collaborative tools
• Excellent attention to detail
• Creative, independent, and highly motivated
• Strong work habits and the ability to work independently as well as with a team
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in related field
• Awareness and understanding of issues involving human resource management, or workforce development
• Ability to edit and develop communication materials for multiple audiences
