HERE'S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THIS ROLE:

You will be…
• Joining the Student Affairs Planning and Operations team; a department of business-minded individuals who are transformative and service oriented.
• Reporting to the Assistant Director of Finance and Administration for Student Affairs in a regular twelve-month, staff appointment. 
• Working collaboratively with the Planning and Operations team and its associated operational units to maintain the cash office, process payroll and invoices, reconcile accounts, and serve as the departmental administrative professional.
• Operating various computer systems, platforms, and networks.
• Communicating with internal and external customers to foster productive working relationships, meet deadlines, and cultivate a culture of compliance and financial stewardship.
• Producing work, independently and within a team, that is detail and quality driven, as well as, action and solution focused.
• Offered a base compensation package between $50,000-$55,000, along with a comprehensive benefits package that includes health insurance, paid leave, retirement, tuition assistance, VT discounts, and so much more!

Required Qualifications

Associate's degree in Accounting or a business related discipline or related years of professional experience.
Previous experience in accounting or bookkeeping and customer service.
Proven experience with invoice processing, funds handling, deposit of daily receipts, petty cash funds, and merchant credit card procedures.
Demonstrated knowledge of policies & procedures for internal funds handling and PCI compliance.
Demonstrated experience handling sensitive, confidential information and documents. Exceptional interpersonal communication skills with the ability to communicate in a professional and courteous manner with diverse constituents.
Excellent organizational and time management skills with attention to detail and ability to successfully manage interruptions in a high volume work environment.
Ability to work independently and as a supportive team member with limited supervision. Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel and Outlook.

Preferred Qualifications

Working knowledge of point-of-sale software applications.
Proven experience handling large sums of cash.
Previous experience working with CashNet, Hokie Mart, Time Clock, travel reimbursement software, MicroStrategy, Canvas, QuickBooks, and enterprise accounting systems such as Banner Finance & HRIS.
Previous experience presenting workshops and training sessions to small groups.
Knowledge of University and state records storage requirements, pcard procedures, fixed assets equipment policies & practices, and travel reimbursement procedures.
